Thank you, Jamie!! That is one of the nicest comments anyone's ever left me! :) And yes, it's KITTEN SEASON so there will be plenty of kittens around! Nice pics make a big difference.. Not one call about Linus or Lupo until I took the time to get some nice natural-light portraits of them, then I had four people that contacted me! Good luck & I look forward to seeing kitten pics Cowbelly style! :)

Oh my god Stacey, you just inspired me to photograph foster cats! These shots are so awesome, and so inspiring and heartwarming, and I've been missing photographing kitties *so much* (have had very few since raising my rates last year) and this is the perfect way to get my kitty fix AND help them find homes! Thank you thank you, for all that you do for the kitties, and the inspiration you have given me. :-)

RE the swinging bellies... Not positive, but, here's my thinking on why some have them... When they are spayed, the vet goes in through there and stitches it back up. My one kitty had a belly that swung and was very active during her recovery period... Wondering if it didn't heal correctly (stitches came loose) and that's why it swings. My other cats who were fixed at a very young age don't have the belly swing. I've always thought it looks uncomfortable for the kitties... But funny to watch. ;)

Cute buns! Love the colors in the bokeh in the background. Looks like having them up on the play-set was the way to go. Too bad we weren't able to try that with the giant! You've got to get a pic of him with the little puppers for scale!

Hey! I try to do everything natural-light only. From what I understand, you can get really good results with flash, but I am not an expert with it and hardly ever like my results. If you can do it by upping the ISO, go that way.. anything over 400 or so and I'm not happy with the noise.. Do you have an external flash? If you point it at the ceiling and have the light reflect back down that way, it may not be as startling for the bun as if you had shot the flash directly at them

What I've learned about bunny photography is if they're uncomfortable (with the situation or you being there or whatever), then put them UP on something they can't just run away from. A table or a couch, or inside a planter outside. Have a spotter there to move the bunny back in place if s/he makes a mad dash. I am bringing an end table to my next bunny shoot to use. If you have them on the ground, they're GONE.

Good luck!!!

Stacey, these are beautiful. Do you use any artificial light when shooting bunnies? I have an indoor bunny shoot scheduled this weekend for a contest winner and I am afraid there won't be enough natural light in the home - but I'm also afraid that flash photography will scare the bunny silly! I hate turning up my ISO but I'm not sure I see another alternative - any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
